JeffPPI
Hi all I know that this has been touched on before, but it's not working out for me. I created a texture from an image file, and it does what I want it to do while in the Texture Editor. However, when I apply to an object, I just get a blank plane(it becomes grey when i render it.) anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! Jeff Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
You could try posting the file here so we can take a look at it. Quote Link to comment
JeffPPI
here's the file. I figured out what I was doing wrong, but the texture still isn't what i need it to be. It's a staggered centers perforation, which has the irritating property of not tiling. Any advice? TIA Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
You have to create the texture to tile, by having the left & right align and top & bottom align. I know Photoshop can do this, not sure about other programs. Quote Link to comment
gmm18
I found this site http://www.bittbox.com/freebies/free-seamless-vector-perforated-metal-pattern/ and downloaded the folder, then in VW -> create new texture ->then followed these settings. (The seamless.png is attached at the bottom of this post.) Here is what I got: Quote Link to comment

JeffPPI
ok, new problem: I need to add an image file to the texture, a painted rendering of the wave from my perf sample. I've got the image i need to put into the texture, but I can't work out how to do that. Also, I tried creating an image prop, but all I got was a blank outline. I've posted the image file here. Ray Libby
Are you trying to edit a texture or create a texture? Have you done a search of "texture" in the VW online help? For the image prop make sure it has a solid fill in the Attributes palette. Quote Link to comment
Guest Frank Brault
Go back to the version you had when you said "yes, thanks gmm18! very helpful." Replace perforated 1364.png with the wave 1 copy 2.jpg in the image shader. Keep the perforated image as the transparency shader. The perforated image will have to be resized in an image editor such as PhotoShop, to match the desired hole size relative to the wave image.
