Perforated Metal

Hi all

I know that this has been touched on before, but it's not working out for me. I created a texture from an image file, and it does what I want it to do while in the Texture Editor. However, when I apply to an object, I just get a blank plane(it becomes grey when i render it.)

anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Jeff

ok, new problem: I need to add an image file to the texture, a painted rendering of the wave from my perf sample.

I've got the image i need to put into the texture, but I can't work out how to do that.

Also, I tried creating an image prop, but all I got was a blank outline. I've posted the image file here.

TIA

Go back to the version you had when you said "yes, thanks gmm18! very helpful." Replace perforated 1364.png with the wave 1 copy 2.jpg in the image shader. Keep the perforated image as the transparency shader. The perforated image will have to be resized in an image editor such as PhotoShop, to match the desired hole size relative to the wave image.
