Can you 'explode' an already created symbol ?

I was just wondering if you could revert a symbol to its original form of lines and boxes etc. so that you can re use some of the elements ?

I am pretty sure you can, ie convert to group then ungroup.

I get all my base drawings from other consultants as one symbol which I group then ungroup which reverts the entire drawing to line work.

Or if you want to keep the object, you can just edit the symbol and copy the objects of interest. Once you leave the symbol, just Paste or Paste in Place.

If you have a hybrid symbol (2D and 3D), you need to make sure you are in Top/Plan if you ungroup to get the 2D part and in something other than Top/Plan if you want the 3D part. If you want both parts, you have to duplicate the symbol and ungroup each copy in a different view.
