AStewart
I have a drawing which has both 2D and 3D objects. When I go to an iso view of the model the 2D Stays in the front plane. Is it possible to make it so the 2D stays with the 3D? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Select the 2D components and extrude them to 0" Quote Link to comment
Cris with no H
But then he ends up with unfilled objects. And this is generally a bad idea for text. What about a layer link w/ Project 2D objects selected? How about turning Stack Layers on? Quote Link to comment
CS1
What happens if you turn "stack leyers" on and in the "stack layer options" tick "display 2D objects"? I havent tried this myself yet but Im sure ive seen it work (accidently) in one of my jobs. Quote Link to comment
panthony
Ray is correct in that the system needs to see the objects and 3D poly's which can only happen if you extrude to "0" or convert to 3D poly's. If text or dimensions are involved than they to will need to be converted to 3D objects. In any case 2D will only show on the "X/Y" plane and not the the "Z" plane if you require dimensional rotation. This is true when you rotate 3D objects and show 2D...the 2D will be visible in thier respective "X/Y" plane. Pete A Quote Link to comment
CS1
Sorry I was thinking about VPs I have attached 3 rough PDFs showing 2D objects rotated with 3D objects, I generated the VPs wuickly without checking the height of the 3D objects so will look a bit funny, if the 3D objects were at "0" in the Z axis I think would look OK. Not sure if this method can be used to achieve your requirements with a bit of tinkering. Quote Link to comment
M.CH
You could make a symbol of everything, make a 0 extrude copy of what you need to seen then when you view the symbol in 3d you would lose all the text etc Quote Link to comment
dovermyer
One tried & true solution...export to DWG/DXF & open in a real CAD program... Quote Link to comment
