The oblique views are not supported in OpenGL or renderworks.

Its in the manual. Top of page 406.

To be honest, I view OpenGL more as a quick hardware accelerated preview and do not consider it consistent/accurate enough to use as a final or printed view.

No, its fully documented that Vectorworks does not support oblique projections in OpenGL or Renderworks. OpenGL does not directly support oblique projections without further manipulation of the projection matrix. So it is not unreasonable that oblique OpenGL views are not supported in VW.
