Markus Barrera-Kolb
Does anyone know how to retrieve object names (entered in the OIP) in a worksheet database field? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
In a database row header enter a formula of =N Pat Quote Link to comment
Markus Barrera-Kolb
Thanks Pat! Do you happen to know where I might find a reference of all the available operators to use in database fields? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
No a complete list, but the majority are available in Appendix E of the VectorScript Appendix. Go the the VW Help. Select VectorScriptReference. Click on the link in the right hand window. Click on the Additional Resources in the Top Left window and then on VectorWorks Appendix in the Bottom Left Window. Pick Appendix E in the Right window. Pat Quote Link to comment
gmm18
There are also the database names for Plug-in Objects that you might be looking for, to use in worksheets. Pat Stanford made a menu command that I find very useful. He shared it with us, the .vsm file is attached. You can put this file in your (if you are on a Mac it looks like this, Windows will be just slightly different): User ->Library->Application Support->VW2008->Plug-ins folder. Then add it to your workspace using the Workspace Editor. The cool thing about this is you click on any Plug-in Object, say a Door, then select this PIO Cheat Sheet command, and by the magic of Pat it creates a worksheet with all of the database parameters for that type of PIO. You just copy the items that you want from Column B, and paste them right into a database row in your other worksheet/schedules. I posted an explanation about it here: Pat's "Cheat Sheet Worksheet" Quote Link to comment
Markus Barrera-Kolb
Thanks gmm18, thanks Pat -- that's quite helpful! I installed the script and it works perfectly. Once again, it seems that the answer to my question has already been posted previously. I usually try to search the forum first, but either my searching skills aren't that good, or the board's search function just isn't up to Google standards (or some of both)... Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
You can use google on the site, but it may be slightly out of date. Right now it is not showing any of my posts more recent than May. This works for any site to limit a google search to a specific site: add site:techboard.vectorworks.net as part of your google search criteria. Pat Quote Link to comment
Elite Exhibits
Pat ¿ Is there a location now for "Pat's Cheat Sheet Worksheet" ? Google search (site:techboard.vectorworks.net) is not providing a result. Attached is pulled from VW/RW 2016 instructions - Searching 2020 VW/RW help does NOT return such information.
