openings that span two levels

Recommended Posts

This is possible, but a little tricky. The only way know of is to use "reshape" on both walls to actually create the opening in "real space". If you're familiar with "fit walls to roof" you could create some temporary extrudes to "fit to" and this will perhaps be easier. After creating the opening you can use a door (or window) which is placed (but not necessarily inserted) into the wall(s)... HTH's

thanks for the replies, here's another question is there a way to make the viewports refresh automatically when you go into the sheet layers for example when I change something on the model layer & then go back to the sheet layer all the vieports need to be updated?

Just watched the video, didnt realise you could do that, very useful, Ta

There is not preference setting for this.

If you are willing to use Saved Views and to manually attach a vectorscript to the view and willing to double click the Saved View twice, you can get it to work.

Not the best, but possible.

How about a script to update all the viewports instead. It is posted here: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=107202#Post107202

For that to work the top of walls below must be exactly coincident with the bottom of walls above... And even so, there are times when you must just bite the bullet and create a "mask" in the VP annotations. In fact, sometimes annotating is easier and faster, especially when you get to the end-game, and you're just trying to get the plans out the door...

installed this scipt on one machine & it works but when I installed it on another it didn't any ideas, it seems to go through the motions of updating as in the screen flashes & the green line line at the bottom left of the screen says rendering but the viewports arn't updated, any thoughts?
