Jim Smith
I know this issues has been raised in the past but here goes: The size of VW files seems to grow exponentially, most of my files are now 50+ MB & some are close to 200! (My templates start at 10MB) I know Auto CAD is totally different, & EVERYTHING I do is 3-D often custom textures, symbols, Worksheets & hatches but, I just received an ACAD file that's like 2 MB! Any new ideas on how to make files smaller? Quote Link to comment
monkey
you could try purging everything once you have finished your plan, but unless you have huge amounts of symbols, hatches, textures etc which arent used, then it wont decrease by a huge amount. Quote Link to comment
M.CH
If you create a symbol of any repeated item, you should find a dramatic reduction in file size Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
As MCH says, symbols help to reduce file size, maybe there's a good place to "break" and use workgroup referencing? Wes Quote Link to comment
Jim Smith
Thanks for the posts, I have used these techniques as well as deleting from the file sheet views, viewports, & saved views no longer used as well as 3-D info no longer required (stair PIO mostly). VW files are just so very honk'n big, I was wondering if there was something NEW. Quote Link to comment
