One requirement is the ability to import and, more importantly, export 3-D models in the STL format. Is this supported by the latest version of VW? Most 3-D printing/stereolithography services will also accept DXF/DXF files, but a friend told me that VW exports only surfaces but no solids in DXF/DWG (which makes it more or less useless for the above puposes). Guest Posted February 8, 2001 Share Posted February 8, 2001 Beat, VW 8.5.2 our latest version does not support the import or export of STL format. It does as you know export to DXF/DWG but its in the form of a mesh object when importing/exporting solids, which is basically a polygonal wireframe of the solid. In the future we will be looking into the ability to do just this, but as of yet there is no direct work around other then exporting to another program that imports DXF/DWG that could then export as STL.
