Pete (STZ)
What is the best way to import an Revit file into VW... hopefully so I can use it as a 3d model. Building is a 5 storey commercial building. We are using VW12.5. Thanks Pete Quote Link to comment
Ariel
If you don't intend to do any further modifications to the model, then the dwg file format should work fine. hth. ariel Quote Link to comment
brudgers
Based upon my earlier experience trying to import from Archicad (also owned by Nemetschek AG) you are extremely unlikely to transfer intelligence from one BIM package to another through IFC or any other method. The official advice from NNA was to use .dwg rather than IFC. Often, Vectorworks cannot maintain intelligence in its own data throughout a simply exportIFC--->importIFC round trip. If you want to maintain Revit intelligence, your best bet is to use Revit. On the other hand, if you simply want to add information to a Revit model then dwg (or possibly IFC) will work. Smooth interaction between different BIM applications is a long way off in my opinion. Quote Link to comment
