Ability to give 3d objects "2d" line types

Question

I'd really like to be able to assign "2d" line types (dash, center line, etc.) to 3d objects so that I can show things to be demolished, property lines, etc. in perspective and other non-plan views.

This is extremely usefull. Please incorporate this in VW2009 before releasing it, Nemetschek. I also need this for window openings in my custom made windows. (I don't use the window tool which is another matter altogether.)

Thanks,

for window opening

That would indeed be a good reason for it (along with the others ofcourse). Do please NNA, put this one in the next version.

Excellent idea! Extrusions are great but not being able to dash them limits there use in plans.

Yup. Actually this is how Revit does it wherein you can override the linetypes of individual 3d edges --- not globally but in specific viewports. This also solves the problem of hiding unwanted line edges.

...in specific viewports...hiding unwanted line edges.

That would RULE!

Please can we do this in VW, NNA? Please? Please?

SideBar:

3D Studio uses a recursive Object Tree to allow drilling down to every component of each Object in order to change the assigned Object Attributes ( including all of the lighting & visibility parameters ). Extremely detailed and very time consuming ... yet ... effective in the extreme. Everything is accessible ... Nothing is out of bounds.

3d Studio was my VW modeler back in 1998 !
