Alexandre Villares
On a very big model, with many repeated elements... which will make the smaller file: For a face, should I extrude a 2D line or to make a 4-point 3D Poly? Will meshes be smaller than extrudes? Quote Link to comment
Guest
A mesh is going to make the file size larger, drastically larger if dealing with lots of complex 3d geometry as meshes. A 3d polygon is the same as an extrude and will give the same file size results. The benefit to drawing 2d and extruding it is reshaping. To reshape an extrude created with a 2d object, you can edit the 3d object and bring you back to the base 2d object, reshape that and then exit out of editing mode. Editing some of the 3d shapes created with the 3d tool sets can take longer. Quote Link to comment
