CS1
I have a 3D symbol of a tap (class: "second plumbing") I have a rounded rectangle (class: "second plumbing") I have Grouped the tap symbol and the reounded rectangle (kitchen sink) and assigned the class: "second plumbing" In plan view I can turn the visibility of class: "second plumbing" on/off and the sink disappears and reappears as expected. In the sheetlayer viewports (front, left, back and right (elevations)) I can see the tap symbol through the joinery. I turn the class off but tap still remains. What am I doing wrong? CS1
If I edit the 2D and 3D components of the symbol and assign all the objects within to the "second plumbing" class, then it works for my elevations. But this means I would need a copy of the symbol for every instance when I want to show one not the other. EG: I would need a tap symbol for every floor of my building. I need one symbol and be able to class it according to its level in the building. EG: "ground plumbing", "first plumbing", "second plumbing" etc Im pretty sure this is how classing symbols is supposed to work, class the symbol, not the info within the symbol. Is this the right way of thinking? Quote Link to comment
Cris with no H
are you turning the class of in the viewport's Classes control, or are you doing it from Navigation palette? Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Set Theory of inheritance.. if the class of the Container is visible then you can control the visibility of the contents via inheritance. However, if the class of the container is invisible, then the items within the container will inherit the invisibility regardless of whether or not the subclassifications are on or off. CS1
Yeah thats what I thought but is not happening with this particular job. The symbol is classed In one viewport (top plan view) I turn off class and symbol disappears In another viewport (side view) I turn off class and parts of symbol remain Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Two suggestions: - check the Viewport's class list for the symbol's container class visibility. - check the class of the Viewport. Quote Link to comment
CS1
Yeah have checked container class, and have confirmed classed correct because in plan view I can make it disappear. Viewport is classed as none Quote Link to comment
