Selected Items Don't Show in Object Info Palette

Help! All of a sudden, when I select an object (eg "wall"), I don't get anything on the Object Info Palette. I have Vectorworks 2008, Mac OS. What changed?

Assuming that you're on the ObjectLayer the solution can be as simple as going into 3d iso and selecting or back to 2d and selecting. When things get "stuck" it is often useful to do a quick 3d fly-around to remind VW that you expect it to work and not sleep ; )

Thanks!, I'll try it. I WAS working in 3d but I don't know if I was in 3d or not when this happened.

I am experiencing the same problem, have tried the above and also sent a message to bugsubmit, have been having the porblem for about 3 months but so far no word back.

I tried what you suggested and still nothing. When I select something, the object info palette says "nothing selected". It happens with all of the files. Should I uninstall Vectorworks and reinstall it?

Do you have this problem with all the worspaces?

I ones had the same (with VW11) and it was because my Workspace was corrupt all of a sudden.

Yes. Actually ALL of my Vectorworks files behave this way so I think the program itself is corrupted. Does this make sense?

sfatelier, try switching workspaces and see if you can reproduce it.

A workspace has nothing to do with you drawings. They are just some VW settings (like pallets, shortkeys,...) saved in a file.

You may be experiencing a problem due to some sort of bug that is "transient". Have you restarted VectorWorks lately? If not, now may be a good time to do so.

I find that restarting will fix the problem for about 5mins.

This is what I thought. I think the program is suddenly corrupted and I need to uninstall and reinstall.

By the way, I have quite Vectorworks and started it again and the problem still comes up. I think it's more than transient.

Have you tried switching workspaces?

I have tried 3 different machines, 6 differetn workspaces, uninstalls and reinstall.

From what I can tell the problem seems to generate after viewports are created.

Everything went back to normal. I just opened a file and it's like nothing ever happened. Freaky. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions but I wonder what happened???

Are you using Spaces in Mac OSX.5? There seems to be an issue with Spaces and VW.

I have a folder full of short vidoes showing whats happening on my machine, is there a way to have these available from this tech forum? I know I can upload PDFs and JPEGs etc.

Maybe post them on youtube.com and post a link here. BTW, instead of identifing your version of VectorWorks as Latest service pack it would be better to name the service pack and build.
