jnr
This appears to still not have been fixed in 2008. On the ground floor, the direction arrow on a stair to the floor above goes up. On the upper floor, on the same stair, the arrow should point down, in the direction to the floor below. Why does the arrow, after all this time, still point in the wrong direction (that is, up, and in the same direction as the arrow on the first floor)?????????? Am I missing something or does the software continue to defy architectural convention? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
You're not, and it does. I have grown accustomed to adding all of my stair arrows and text in VO annotations (and then they look exactly like I want them to...). Quote Link to comment
jnr
So peter, why do you think after what, 4 to 6 years of this tool being around, that they can't seem to get it right? I mean they've got architects testing and working on this. What gives? (oops need to update profile...) Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Good question! I don't have a clue... All I know is, keep posting. Keep wishing. Keep asking. Hopefully someone will pay attention. Quote Link to comment
maarten.
I think a lot depends on the standards that is used in each country. Overhere, it's the standard to let the arrows ALWAYS point to a higher level. Same with elevations, they always point up. So for us here in Belgium, the arrows on the VW stairs are drawn correctly. IanH
Yes, from a garden design perspective too. I was taught here in the UK that the arrow on steps/stairs always points up. Quote Link to comment
russh
Same here. The arrow should always point to the higher level. So it works fine for us. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
The convention in the UK, NZ, Aus, is to always show the stair arrow in the upwards direction. But see this thread for more discussion: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=12&Number=85149 Of particular interest might be the 2nd image attached by bc in this post: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=84984#Post84984 Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Maybe a toggle allowing the direction arrow to be flipped thus complying with either convention... Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I think it's going to take more than a simple toggle to make the stair satisfactory. There's a load of stair wishlist items on this forum that need to be implemented in my opinion. Quote Link to comment
