Error Messages

Recommended Posts

I don't believe we maintain a list of all the possible error messages. Many of the error messages you see come from lists of strings stored in 'STR#' resources inside the application. If you've got a resource editor like ResEdit or Resorcerer you can take a look at them without too much trouble. However, plug-ins and scripts can also generate error messages, and these may not always be easy to find.

That's an 'address error' and it's actually generated by the operating system. It means that some piece of software (probably VectorWorks in this case, since you're asking us) tried to access memory that doesn't exist. An error like this is an indication that something fairly bad happened, and the program can't continue.

If you're having trouble with lots of Type 2 errors when you run VectorWorks, send our tech support department some e-mail at tech@nemetschek.net or call them at 410-290-5114.

For future reference, Apple has several tech notes which together list most of the system error codes that you're likely to run into:

MacOS System Error Codes: 1 to 32767

MacOS System Error Codes: -261 to 0

MacOS System Error Codes: -291 to -5553
