Tommy Cox
What is the compatibility between these two versions? I am having trouble going from 08 to v12.5. The reps at conference said 2008 would work with the last version. Is there a 12.6 or something? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
I'm not understanding, what are you trying to do? Quote Link to comment
jan15
2008 will open a file created with any release of v12, but v12 won't open a file created with 2008 (unless 2008 exports it to v12 format). Quote Link to comment
Kevin
I have the same question. I tried to explore the Alexandria Laundry Lofts file, but it is in the .vwx format and VW12.5 won't recognize it. Quote Link to comment
IanH
Do you have the facility to use 2008 somewhere and export it as a Vectorworks 12 file? Quote Link to comment
Jeffrey W Ouellette
VW2008 is a different file format than VW12 and earlier. You can save VW2008 down to v12 or earlier, but you can not simply open the .vwx in VW12.5. As with all previous version of VectorWorks and even MiniCAD, if the file is created in the newer version contains objects/tools that are specific to that newer version, they will not work the same way when saved to an earlier version. For example, the Ellicott Heights project extensively uses Design Layer Viewports (DLVPs). This technology is unique to VW2008. Saving this file back to v12 converts the DLVPs into Workgroup References (WGRs). The Alexandria Lofts file SHOULD export back OK for the most part, it was originally done in v12. But, I can send you those v12 files, if you'd like. Just drop me an email message (jouellette@nemetschek.net) and I'll get them to you. Quote Link to comment
