Crashes when Saving

Recommended Posts

We have had some luck today and narrowed the problem a bit.

While saving to the root of "C" i.e "my Documents" all save commands work normally.

If saving to a USB thumb drive it saves and closes the program.

I have yet to go back and see what happens when saving to a network drive.

1. Are you running the latest updates?

Yes

2. Can you please give me the full path to where you are saving your files?

Here is some new info. The path to the root is OK. What I learned today is that they were saving to a USB flash drive. So, save as to a flash drive close the program. Have yet to ask how it goes when saving to network drive.

3. What are you backup settings?

same location as original file.

Thanks

Temporarily disable your backup and see if that fixes the problem.

Specifically, what build are you running? You can check this in the "About VectorWorks"

Also, what OS are is VectorWorks running on?

We need this to be able to reproduce the problems.

Thanks,

Tolu

I recently bought a USB Flashdrive for quick file backups. But my backup software, Retrospect, would crash every time I tried to backup to the drive F: The Retro-tech said this is a known problem with USB drives.

The fix we worked out was to backup to a specific folder on drive F: I don't know if VW has the same problem recognizing a thumbdrive as a removable hard drive. But you might try manually creating a backup folder and put that in the backup path. It works for me.
