Orientating plans on a page

Best practice draughting question for you all: when you're deciding which way to orientate a set of plans (especially if the building is not right angled) on a set of drawings, what set of principles, in order of importance, do you use to make a decision?

Where possible front wall of building at bottom and horizontal. That way the front elevation is the true to the plan.

Where this is not possible orientation that best suits the page, but at least one wall vertical or horizontal.

My first step in orienting a plan on the sheet is to align, as closely as possible, plan north with sheet north (top). This allows more consistency when labeling elevations north, south, etc., though it can conflict with Mike's emphasis on the front (I assume entry) wall.

Or one could follow Hopi or Navajo Indian tradition and have the hogan entrance always face east (right side of plan)and be done with it.

In any case keeping with any consistent, logical approach should work.

or to the east if it is tall and narrow and needs to fit on arch D/A0 size sheets
