Lee Rose
Ok now I'm stumped. I have Vectorworks 12.53 running on Win XP SP2 and all of a sudden it won't start up. No splash screen nothing. I've tried the shorcut and the executable directly. Get a "Wait" cursor for a few seconds then back to the standard cursor. No Vectorworks in the process list. I tried reinstalling the 12.52 to 12.53 update to no avail. Any suggestions? Lee Rose Design Partners Hollywood, CA Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Try removing your workspace from the Vectorworks/Workspaces folder. Sort the folder by date and remove the one that was changed most recently. It could be corrupt and causing the crash. Pat Quote Link to comment
Lee Rose
Would that apply if you don't even get the splash screen? Lee Rose Design Partners Hollywood, CA Quote Link to comment
Lee Rose
Didn't effect it. Won't start at all. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
OK, I'm a Mac guy, but here is some troubleshooting tips culled from the past. 1. Delete the preferences file, but make sure you know your serial number as you will have to reenter it. 2. Reinstall VectorWorks 3. Clean out the registry first then Reinstall VectorWorks before reinstalling 1. open the registry run regedit.exe (start button) 2. search for Nemetschek 3. delete the keys for version 11 (there should be 2) one in USER and one in LOCAL MACHINE 4. Delete Quicktime before reinstalling http://kbase.nemetschek.net/index.php?ToDo=view&questId=104&catId=19 Good Luck, Pat Quote Link to comment
Lee Rose
Ah-ha. I had been working on deleting an installation of Quicktime that wouldn't upgrade. Will Vectorworks run without Quicktime? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I belive that VW requires Quicktime. I suggest you do a compelete unistall of Quicktime and VW followed by a reinstall. Pat Quote Link to comment
WDHensley
I have had the same experience. It happens when workspaces get corrupt. I have started backing up my workspaces so when it happens, I just replace them and VW will start properly. I would suggest that you make a backup copy as well. Wayne Quote Link to comment
