Upgrade from Fundamentals to Architect

ACR

Question

Hi

Have just updated the office from Vectorworks Fundamentals to Architect and received new dongle serial numbers. Added those into the serial numbers preferences box on each machine, and 'about vectorworks' now says Fundamentals and Architect, and navigation palette shows but have not got all the additional tools we know should be there - what have we done wrong ? Any help/clues please

Machines are generally MacIntel's running 10.4.11 with 2GB Ram

ACR - When adding on modules, you have to first uninstall VectorWorks and reinstall using the new serial number.

Originally, only Fundamentals was installed. Adding an Architect serial number does not actually install any Architect modules.

Have found that for this upgrade to work properly you also need to empty the application support folder of the 'Vectorworks 2008' folder and remove any 'nemetschek' preferences from library folder - if not, we have found it doesn't work properly. It is bad enough that it takes about 2 hours to reinstall as it is without the reinstall not working properly!

This is something unique to your set up. In fact, even going a step beyond what Katie said, you don't need to uninstall *anything*. You can simply reinstall over the existing install. The key then after installation is ensuring your new serial number is being used.

Perhaps this is why you get the impression you have to delete your preferences files, because for some reason your serial number is not saving properly otherwise.
