JHEarcht
Can anyone tell me what is going on when a simple operation in VW2008 (in win XP) causes the blue title bar of the window to flash as if it is about to lockup? Sometimes it does lockup, but more often it just trembles and hesitates before executing the command. Something about the calls from VW to the operating system seem to be disturbing the system, and it's freaking me out. So far, VW2008 is much less stable on XP than VW12, in my experience. Guest
Do you have the Obj Info Palette docked or undocked? Quote Link to comment
JHEarcht
OIP is docked on the secondary display. The blinking bars are on the primary display. The latest blue-light special happens when I select a wall drawn previously. After a short delay and flashing lights the wall is highlighted. Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Had the same problem. Mkae sure you have all the old versions of VW deleted. For some reson upgrading VW does not override or get rid of preious versions. The object ino palette has to be docked and kept open fully. This is a real pain and it takes up half you screen area but until NNA sort out the glitch this is the only option. Quote Link to comment
JHEarcht
Does the OIP have to be docked directly to the headers of the primary window? Mine is simply at the top left of the secondary screen along with several other palettes What does docking have to do with the Blue Bar Blinking anyway? Quote Link to comment
Guest Donne Martin
Try docking the OIP (so that it snaps into place). I'd imagine that if you have the palettes on your second monitor then the OIP is not fully docked. This is a bug we hope to resolve in a future service pack. Donne Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
The bug is to do with the window and door objects which we find blink or flash as well, especially the first time on opening the file and first opening of a window or door. Quote Link to comment
JHEarcht
When I dock the OIP to the data bars of the primary screen, it obscures about a third of my workspace. Why can't I dock it to the vertical edge of the screen, or to the top edge of the secondary screen? I tried and it doesn't help. Quote Link to comment
Guest Donne Martin
I don't suggest docking the OIP to the data bar area. You can dock it to the right edge of the screen. VW does not support docking to the secondary screen. Here's a sample workspace showing the OIP docked at 1600x1200 resolution. Donne Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
That still takes up a 1/4 of my screen and normally I am running several programmes at once and so takes up more space as the window is reduced. I can not work with such a reduced window and live with the flashing which is a real pain. NNA please do not treat this as a minor promblem and sort it out ASAP. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
An associate of mine is a big fan of dual monitors for each of his computers. I was sceptical of the benefits until I saw him working one day. Now I understand exactly why he has it this way. He uses large flat panel screens with one dedicated solely for his CAD work - everthing else is on the other monitor. Works a treat and totally overcomes the issue of not enough screen territory. Michael, if you are losing a quarter of your screen to palettes you need a bigger monitor, or perhaps two bigger monitors. Quote Link to comment
