Dormer/Mansard textures

Hello Tech forum,

A simple query: is it possible to apply a different texture to a dormer or mansard (shed type roof on VWA) in a roof? I'm adding a metal-clad mansard to a slate covered roof, but I can't seem to separate the two. Do I have to split the roof in two?

While I'm here, is there a way of showing a door between two mansards, e.g.: I have two interconnecting mansards with a wall between them (stairs hall to loft), but the door in my wall shows only partially because the mansard construction gable covers it up...

you could ungroup your roof, then apply a different texture to the roof faces

In your Roof Class, if you go to Edit Class(es), there's a "ROOF" button about half-way down allowing Texture - "Top Texture" and "Dormer Texture", they can be different...this is for the SIDES of the dormer

thanks Jonathan and Wes, I'll try both options and then see how it works best. Re the second part of my question, I suppose by ungrouping I can probably get rid of the mansard gables that are currently obscuring my door in the wall between the two mansards...

Ungrouping a roof will make roof faces

better still... ungrouping a mansard produces neatly shaped walls and roof faces!

I tried the other class-editing option, in itself quite good, but the freedom of manipulation of ungrouping is much more useful in this case.
