Printing - Do we need PostScript Proccessing?

Recommended Posts

We are looking to buy the new HP DesignJet 800 42" color plotter for our NT4 network. The unit comes with a PostScript software RIP driver.

The PostScript version - HP DesignJet 800PS 42" is a good deal more money. We aren't doing rendering, yet. We don't think we'll need Pantone colors, etc. in the future. Can we get by nicely without PostScript? Thanks

we painted ourselves into a corner some time ago in the same situation with HP DesignJet 600's. we bought 2 of them and skimmped on the PS module and now we need it and it's not even available anymore. now we have to get 2 new plotters at about 6 times the cost of adding PS to the original plotters.

save money upfront, spend alot more later. and that's even if you will still be able to get the PS module for your plotter.

you may not need it right away but, i'll bet the day will come when you do.
