Heather S
I am creating a new template for our office and setting up predefined wall types. I would like to know can Wall styles be put into separate folders like symbols, via the resource browser. For example: I would like to have all of my wall types that have brick veneer on them in one folder, then in another folder have all the wall types with siding. If this is not possible, does anyone have any ideas on how to organize wall types? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Yes. Once used (or imported) into the active file Wall Styles become Resources, just like any other Resources... Quote Link to comment
Heather S
Is there a "how to" in the VW help menu? I cant seem to find anything. Thanks for the help Peter Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
What specifically are you wanting to know "how to" do?? Quote Link to comment
Heather S
I would like to organize my wall types in sub-folders that can be accessed via the resource browser. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Try going to VW's Help, then look in the INDEX, under "R" for resource(s). There are many pages there. If you still have questions after reading through to HELP files post them here. FYI, I think that WALL STYLES will always be in their own folder, but it does not seem to be a user created folder. You might consider creating a TEMPLATE file which contains all of the resources, including WALL STYLES... Quote Link to comment
brudgers
I don't think you can do what you are trying to do. The resouce browser has limited user configurable organization. Quote Link to comment
Gerrit
Since the resources are listed alphabetically, you can force them into a practical order through their names. Most of mine begin with numbers. Quote Link to comment
Heather S
I found this on VW help "Organizing Resource Display The custom and default resources are displayed below the resources in the current file; each list is in ascending alphabetical order. To display the custom or current file?s resources first in a selection list, implement a naming standard that places the desired resources toward the top of the list alphabetically." suzannah
Hi all, once the relevant wall styles are in the resource browser, can the generic list of wall types that show up in the wall preferences be dumped of all the unused wall styles? just by way of getting rid of superfluous stuff Suzannah Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Check out the Purge Unused Object command in the Tool menu. One of the options is Wall Styles, so I would assume that you can. Pat Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
wall styles are sorted by their name. I use the wall thickness to sort my walls.. 90 Existing 90 demolished 90 Proposed.... So you could have brick type 1 brick type 2 siding type 1 siding type 2 and so on Quote Link to comment
Heather S
ArchonCad Do you preset your wall types in a template? I do like the idea of Existing, Demo, Proposed. It seems like an awful large list of walls to sort thru though. What is the best way to organize them? Thanks for all you help. Heather Quote Link to comment
