Ken
Why don't grouped walls show their handles when they're layer-linked? VW8.5.2/mac ------------------ Kenneth Quote Link to comment
Ken
Thanks for the reply, Janis. However, it's not entirely true that grouped objects "appear" as one object when layer linked. A rectangle within another rectangle, when grouped and layer-linked, will reveal all the handles! I can snap to any inner corner from the linked layer as if they are NOT grouped. Walls do not do this. Seems inconsistent. Am I missing something? ------------------ Kenneth Quote Link to comment
Ken
Upon further investigation, it seems my file may be corrupt. Grouped walls do, in fact, reveal their handles when layer-linked on a fresh new drawing. My drawing has all layers in top/plan view. Go figure. ------------------ Kenneth Quote Link to comment
Janis Kent
I think I was getting a little confused with the terminology you were using. A linked layer will show "handles" only for the whole layer - not for individual components. You can still snap and get smartcursor cues at various points on objects in a linked layer, although the cue itself will be different than on the original layer. Whatever - glad you were able to solve the problem so the file is working for you again. ------------------ Janis Kent, AIA author WorksTutorial & WorksManual Quote Link to comment

Objects within a layer, whether grouped or not, appear as one object, not individual, on a linked layer. Just the way it is. ------------------ Janis Kent, AIA author WorksTutorial & WorksManual Quote Link to comment
