Benson Shaw
Haven't seen it in this forum yet this year, so here goes: 3d linear dimensioning tools: 1. Point to point distance measure - tape measure tool. 2. Point to point distance annotation - dimension tools On design layer In ViewPorts Associative option 3. Perimeter length for open or closed NURBS and 3d polylines OIP readout Dimension tool(s) for single and cumulative objects or edges. Edge selection & dimension tool (without having to actually extract the edge) Associative option 4. Parametric dimensioning (I think that is what its called, here is what I mean): Set a perimeter, area, or volume dimension for 3d object (OIP field?) Lock location of some/most of the points (with OIP or cursor selection) Move any unlocked point(s) Other unlocked points adjust location so perimeter/area/volume is constant. I probably left out something important, but this is a start. -B Quote Link to comment
0 Oyvind
I second that! And, dimensioning in viewports must become easier/better. Having to add circles and arcs just to add dimensioning does not impress anyone! Quote Link to comment
0 islandmon
Quantification of dimensional vector space is the next "fundamental" improvement and it is long overdue. Quote Link to comment

Haven't seen it in this forum yet this year, so here goes:
3d linear dimensioning tools:
1. Point to point distance measure - tape measure tool.
2. Point to point distance annotation - dimension tools
On design layer
In ViewPorts
Associative option
3. Perimeter length for open or closed NURBS and 3d polylines
OIP readout
Dimension tool(s) for single and cumulative objects or edges.
Edge selection & dimension tool (without having to actually extract the edge)
Associative option
4. Parametric dimensioning (I think that is what its called, here is what I mean):
Set a perimeter, area, or volume dimension for 3d object (OIP field?)
Lock location of some/most of the points (with OIP or cursor selection)
Move any unlocked point(s)
Other unlocked points adjust location so perimeter/area/volume is constant.
I probably left out something important, but this is a start.
