ginger04
Hi! Is it possible to add 3D plant on a picture (imported JPEG) and display in openGL ? Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
I think this is what you mean. It's a texture created from an image and applied to a 3d rectangle residing on the ground plane. Remember to add a fill color with the attributes palette - white will do. A group of tree image props set for cross planes and image mask, background transparent, are inserted so that they reside on the 3d rectangle. The image props also need a fill color from the attributes palette. The view is set with the flyover tool, and is rendered in Open GL. Or perhaps you are trying to find/create a 3d plant object to insert (like the trees in the example). Look in your Vectorworks folders for the x-Frog resources. That has loads of 3d plants. Read the help topics on creating and using image props. -B Quote Link to comment
ginger04
Thanks for the advice. Of course it worked out with the Create Image Prop - the desired effect was achieved. I just wonder why it didn't worked the same when importing an Image File? But it's ok now. Quote Link to comment

If you simply bring in an image file it's just a 2D bitmap that is on the drawing and is always in 2D top plan. The Image Prop gives it 3D planes with the image file mapped to it, making it display in 3D space. Quote Link to comment
