Hogle Ireland Graphics Dep
I just got a new computer, which is great, but VW2008 runs SOOO sloooooww on my computer. After about 15 mins it just comes to a crawl and I have to shut it down. This isn't even doing any rendering either! This is just everyday processes on a 30mb file. My specs: windows xp pro on a dell precision 390. I have a dual core quad processor both at 2.4, 2gigs ram. Thoughts? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Have you updated to SP2? Quote Link to comment

Ray Libby
What build number do you see when you go to About VectorWorks from the help menu? Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
Are you using a custom workspace, or did you import an old version of your workspace from your old computer. Those things get corrupted, and hang the computer big time. Quote Link to comment
Guest
What types of operations are slow? Is it selecting objects, moving objects, choosing a tool/menu, rendering, switching views, etc? Quote Link to comment
Hogle Ireland Graphics Dep
All the operations are slow! My computer basically slows down to the point where I can't do anything. As a temporary solution I basically just save all the time so when the computer freezes I shut down and restart VW and it works fine (well, for about 15 mins or so). Talk about a duct tape fix huh? Hogle Ireland Graphics Dep
I did import all my workspaces from the previous version. However, being that I couldn't find a way to bring my old workspaces across (which I'm sure you guys have heard complaints about) I just created a new one in '08. Thus, I'll try deleting the old WS's and keep my fingers x'd that this fixes the problem! I'll give the heads up if it does anything. Quote Link to comment
Hogle Ireland Graphics Dep
What build number do you see when you go to About VectorWorks from the help menu? Looks like the build is 13.0.0 (76681). Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted January 16, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 16, 2008 SP2 build number should be 82613 Check your version in the "About VectorWorks" dialog it should say "SP2" if you have updated. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
It doesn't look like you have SP2 installed. This was a known bug in the initial release of 2008. Updating to SP2 will solve your problem. Quote Link to comment
timpower
i had updated to SP2 and then had to 'backtrack' to SP1 - I found SP incredibly slow and for some reason SP1 is more responsive - after reinstalling everything and upgradign to SP1, I am happy again. I'll await SP3 - just one persons opinion Quote Link to comment

Guest Donne Martin
As other have pointed out, this is a bug fixed with SP2. You can find the updater here: http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/fundamentals/2008/2008SP2.php Quote Link to comment
