Bostonluke
Everytime I try to edit a plant description in plant preferences, VW freezes and I have to restart it. Does anyone know why it isn't working? Thanks. P Quote Link to comment
Guest
What version of VW are you using? Quote Link to comment
JGraber
I am having the same issue? Maybe it has something to do with the amount of RAM? It is quite annoying. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Could you go into a little bit more detail on what part of the plant you are editing and how you are getting to the edit part? Quote Link to comment
JGraber
For me, I will open the plant tool, then click to open the plant preferences pop-up....that is where you see the plant symbol with its currents settings. I am able to add a few new plants by duplicating an existing plant on that screen, but after a few new plants VW freezes with the plant preferences box open......it does it at that point every time. JGraber
I had the same thing happen to me today, but a Vectorworks error screen kept popping up, but it was transparent and I couldn't see an error message. It popped up probably 20 times in a row, then it briefly showed the error message...something to the effect of 'the requested resource is not available'. When VW crashes a warning chime goes off when you click as if there is a popup box open that is not letting you do anything before you click it off, but I don't see anything unless it is the Plant Preferences box that has just stopped responding. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted January 14, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 14, 2008 Ooh yes - I've had this too - on XP 2008 with SP2. Usually VW doesn't crash immediately and I get to save the file before restarting and all is well... I thought it was memory problems (my baby laptop has only 1GB RAM) but I see you have 4 - so maybe not! Quote Link to comment
Guest
So when you are seeing VW2008 crash, do you always see this message coming up telling you that the resource message come up? Or does that only happen some of the time? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted January 15, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 15, 2008 Andrew I've had a few crashes! But when defining plants, this message always comes up after a while... The pop up appears about 10 times, to which I have to click OK about 10 times. It then finally dismisses the dialogue, but that's the time to save the file as crash is imminent. Quote Link to comment
JGraber
For us the message does not always come up, but a good percentage of the time it does. I find that if I open task manager some of the VW functionality comes back but when I try to save it brings up the save box and it is blank so I can't see any of the buttons or anything. The unavailable resource error does popup up about 10 times or so before the program seems to freeze. Quote Link to comment
classicgardendesign
I am going a little loony with these crashes. Happens every time I try to edit a plant and replace the 2d symbol with anything other than the stock VW symbols. HELP! Quote Link to comment
Guest
I do know that there have been some problems people have been having with corrupted workspaces and corrupted default preferences files. Have you tried to reset your preferences back to the defaults and seeing if that solves anything? Quote Link to comment
classicgardendesign
The problem seems to be with certain plant symbols. If I use a symbol that was oriinally a dwg symbol and try to make it a VW plant symbol it crashes later when selecting it for a plant. Quote Link to comment
