HP Designjet 488CA

I just picked up a used Designjet 488CA. It has parallel interface which I believe I can get a USB adapter. I want to know which drive will work with this printer/plotter/scanner in OSX. I do not want to spend another few $100S for X-Rip. Please advise VWs, thanks.

The only way to print to this is via X Rip as the ripping drivers are not developed for OS 10 for this particular printer.

PS. I tried the demo of X-Rip and was very disappointed with the quality- I'm sure it works perfectly fine for some, but not for me.

Try installing > GutenPrint ( GIMP Print ) has drivers for most printer & plotters :

if you have a print server JetDirect HP...about $130...you can plot from the GIMP drivers without a problem (except it seems, layer opacity feature in viewports....)
