Ariel
Just thought this feature would allow us to exchange files more effectively with other consultants. Any comments on how this would or wouldn't work? Ariel Quote Link to comment
0 Petri
Good thinking, Ariel! It does. The newly-imported file just has to be in the same folder and have the same name as the previous one. Vice versa, by the way. And only exchance YOUR data: do not Return To Sender, even with Attachments. Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
Petri, are you saying we can directly WGR Autocad files? Quote Link to comment
0 Petri
No, I'm not. We have to translate Pidgin CAD to Vectorworksese, but as long as our latest translation has the same file path as the previous one, we are lumberjacks. Quote Link to comment
0 Ariel
Actually, that's exactly what I had in mind. No importing necessary --- just display the Autocad file in one layer. Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
Yeah, well, I don't think you can do that, but it would be nice. It occurred to me previously that this probably wouldn't be that difficult to implement now that we have true file referencing. Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
I think it would be much harder than you think. Look at how long it takes to import a DWG. Would you really want to wait that long for a referenced file to update? The problem is objects that are handled very differently between the two programs. One of the biggest of those is text. 0 Christiaan
True, but then again we seem to be waiting forever for VW references these days too. Quote Link to comment
