taoist
Is there a way to apply hatches to an elevation view of a 3 D drawing? In other words, one draws a house in plan view giving walls height. Change view to elevation (front, rear, right, left) and apply hatches for siding, roofing and such. This would save a lot of time. Not having to draw elevations in 2D, then apply hatches. taoist Quote Link to comment

Petri
All of them rather disappointing. (Including those by yours truly.) Quote Link to comment
Guest
You can use viewports for this, then add the hatches in the annotation mode of the Viewport. Another option is to use convert copy to polygons on the elevation model and add the hatches appropriately. Quote Link to comment
taoist
Whenever I try that (copy to polygons)with windows or doors, the hatches run through the openings. I have not tried hatches using viewports yet. taoist Quote Link to comment
Guest
You may have to do some clean up work after running the menu. Select the polygons and add or subtract as needed. Quote Link to comment
taoist
I can't seem to apply hatches in annotation mode in a viewport. Is there something I am missing? taoist Quote Link to comment
Guest
You have to draw the polygon shapes or use the fill bucket mode of the polygon tool to create the shapes. Quote Link to comment
Petri
Yes. But that is not what users want to do. If they create a 3D model, they expect to be able to utilise it, instead of "drawing polygons shapes" or "using the fill bucket mode". Edited November 24, 2007 by Katie Quote Link to comment
Guest
Petri, I understand what you'd like to see and what the software does currently may not be the same. I was simply stating a few different techniques of how to achieve the desired results. If there's something you'd like changed, I encourage you to post it to the wish list section - the appropriate place to discuss changes in the software. Quote Link to comment
