gc
why do cased openings show up as solid in 3D views of the walls like there is a door in the opening? anyone know any fixes? thanks Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
I have always found cased openings to appear open, as expected, in 3d views. Perhaps you could post an image to illustrate your problem? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The cased opening should cut the wall. My guess is that either you did not get teh opening into the wall, but it is sitting on top, or that you have somehow have two walls and the opeingin is only cutting one. Try this. Drag tyeh opening out of the wall. Then drag it back in. When you drag it in, make sure that the tip of the cursor pointer is inside the wall before you release the mouse button. This will make sure that opening snaps in the wall. Also check that you have the insert in wall mode turned on in both the 2D symbol insertion tool and the 2D selection tool. Guest
You can quickly check if the door/window has cut the wall by selecting the object and glancing at the Obj Info Palette. If the object type says "Door" or "Window", then it did not cut the wall. If the object type says "Door in Wall" or "Window in Wall", it has cut the wall. Quote Link to comment
hpwhitehead
This is a little basic and unrelated, but how do you do a cased opening? Quote Link to comment
Damon Design
With a door or window selected, just select the cased opening option in the sash option (window) or configuration option (door) in the OIP (object information palette) select a 0 jamb setting if you want a clean opening. hpwhitehead
I tried that, and I must be doing something wrong because it didn't work for me. Do mean set the jamb thickness to 0? That doesn't seem logical. Can you help me with the exact procedure? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Guest
hpwhitehead, Damon is correct on creating a cased opening. What is it that isn't working for you when choosing this configuration? Quote Link to comment
hpwhitehead
Which field should be set to zero? I was trying to set the jamb thickness to zero, and it makes a zero thickness jamb, with the door leaf still in place. I'll try it again this evening and report back. Quote Link to comment
Guest
You don't have to set anything to 0 - simply used the Cased Opening configuration. Quote Link to comment
