Technology Update: VectorWorks 2008 Help System Update (for Macintosh)

Nemetschek North America has released a download to update English-language Help files for VectorWorks 2008 products (Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Machine Design, Fundamentals, and RenderWorks). This update addresses the issue of a blank page in Safari 2.x.x. for some VectorWorks users on Mac operating systems. Users can access this download at www.nemetschek.net/downloads; click on ?VectorWorks 2008 Help System Update (for Macintosh),? and follow the download instructions. This zip download contains the latest help files, which will completely replace the previous help files, and should resolve this problem.

Please note that this update does not apply to Windows users. If you are on Windows, it is not recommended that you install this update. Additionally, this update does not benefit Safari 3 users (including anyone using the Safari 3 which comes with Leopard).

Download Instructions

Step 1

Determine if you have the correct version for updating. See the version mentioned above.

If you do not have version 2008, or are not sure that your update will work, please contact sales@nemetschek.net or call 410-290-5114.

Step 2

Quit all other applications, except your web browser, and then download the Updater.

Step 3

Delete the entire VWHelp folder from the root of your VectorWorks folder.

Step 4

Place the downloaded VW2008SafariHelpFix.zip file in your VectorWorks root directory.

Step 5

Double-click on the file to expand the zip file. Upon completion, a new VWHelp folder is created. This folder contains the updated help system, the VectorScript Function Reference, and an Additional Documentation folder with PDFs of the manuals for those who want PDFs.

Step 6

Delete the VW2008SafariHelpFix.zip file from your VectorWorks root directory.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to sales@nemetschek.net.
