wvancampen
Is there a simple way to do this? It would be helpful, especially when reusing walls created in older VW versions pre-styled walls. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Select the relevant wall(s), go to the object info palette and click on the 'Style' drop down menu, then choose replace. Quote Link to comment
Petri
This would be so much easier if VW walls would would remember the possible offset, as ArchiCAD walls do. --- You can also drag a wall style from the Resource Palette; I find this much easier. Nevertheless, you can still only use either face or the centerline. Not much of use. Quote Link to comment
Guest
You can replace a wall style with another by aligning the exterior, interior or centerline of the overall wall, or individual components. (In VW 2008, the Replace Wall dialog also provides the option to additionally replace wall height, class, and textures) Is there a need to replace a wall from an offset of one of these settings? Petri
or individual components. Can you? Have I missed this option - obviously so! (In VW 2008, the Replace Wall dialog also provides the option to additionally replace wall height, class, and textures) Good, good... (Didn't the Default Class already work this way in VW 12?) Is there a need to replace a wall from an offset of one of these settings? Well - you don't always replace a wall style with another with comparable components. Does the geometry still apply? A very good question! It would seem there is but I'll investigate. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Right - that's why you can replace walls from one control setting of the existing wall and align it with some control setting of the new wall - including controls of the overall wall or individual components. You can to click on the component, then the control radio button to align to components. Quote Link to comment
Petri
Right-o! (Or, when appropriate, Left-o.) Quote Link to comment
wvancampen
Thanks for the responses to my original question, but I was asking whether you can (easily) convert pre-v.12 (unstyled) walls to styled--not replace them with other styled walls. Or do I have to recreate/style them all "from scratch?" Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Ah, hence your use of the word 'convert.' No, I don't believe there is. Don't know about version 13 but my guess is it's not capable of this either. Quote Link to comment
Guest
You can edit components of an unstyled wall - select the walls and from the OIP, choose components. This change will apply to all selected walls. If you create a wall style, you can convert an unstyled wall to use this style again using the replace function from the OIP when all walls are selected. wvancampen
It would be a useful feature, in my opinion--so please add it to any suggestion box. On another issue regarding walls (while I'm thinking about it)--it would be useful if at walls with exposed ends (eg "fin" walls), that components could be made to wrap around the ends. Archeus
I've been wishing for this for a long time, just haven't gotten around to submitting it... Quote Link to comment
