Change associative hatch origin

Question

Following up on the discussion in another thread, it would be great to be able to adjust the origin of an associative hatch on an instance-by-instance basis without editing the actual hatch itself. In addition to numerical values which could be displayed in the OIP, there could be a tool whereby the hatch, once applied, could be dragged to the desired location.

On top of that, I think it is high time we think about a more powerful interface for creating and editing hatches. The hatch tool should be able to take a user drawing and make it into a hatch. Placing and editing all those little line segments in that inscrutable interface seems to be the sort of thing modern CAD was designed to make obsolete!

Agree.

Maybe a solution could be the attribute mapping tool, functioning with hatches. Creating a hatch from drawing is a "sweet dream" for all of us in my workplace.

I like the attribute mapping tool idea.

It makes sense since other fill types are supported by this tool.

I've added this thread to the wish list.

And add an angle to that. That way we don't need to make a hatch for every angle we need in the drawing.

Also with the angle, we don't need layer links or symbols anymore as a workaround. Now I sometimes create a symbol of a polygon just for placing the hatch angled.

Is it? Well, only a few years ago an Italian developer offered this functionality. Practically no-one bough his software, so he gave up.

Does "sweet dream" mean something you want for free?

DWorks, do you mean you'd like to be able to rotate an associative hatch? If so, yes, great companion idea.

And Katie, I agree, adjusting associative hatches, including scaling, would fit in perfectly with the Attribute Mapping tool.
