drmdzh
I am trying to make an 1/8" cut-out of this bridge shape. I traced over an image and as I did each part, I extruded 1/8". Now I need to make it all one piece. But when I select all and "Add solid" I get a "cannot be computed" error. I've also tried to convert copy to lines (or ploys) and then extrude from that. No success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
dontevenjoke
I'm not sure if this is what you want...if you just want a 'flat' sort of 2d extrude, try this. Highlight all Convert to polygons (Click Wireframe in prompt box) Double click to edit group Extrude Exit Group I did it with your download and it worked, however I extruded it 2-4" before it was visibly extruded. drmdzh
Almost what I want, except what I really need - what my Tech Director wants, is just an outline of the whole thing, either 2d or as an 1/8" object. So I have to get rid of all the interior lines. Quote Link to comment
dontevenjoke
Then start as a drawing and trim all the interior or unwanted lines. See the help file on all the functions of the trim command. Then follow above steps.I gave this a go and it works. Quote Link to comment
drmdzh
Sorry, what do you mean "start as a drawing"? Start all over again? Can I use what I already have and convert it to something I can trim? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Is this what you want? I deleted the windows in the main building and redrew them, I'm not sure how you drew it but there was something wrong with them, maybe they weren't closed. Quote Link to comment
dontevenjoke
Sorry David, I just meant to start where you were, rather than going thru the above steps and then going on from the extruded drawing. Sorry for the confusion. My attempt looks like Ray's example except I closed the lines with a nil radius fillet. Quote Link to comment
