farwest1
Hi, I want to break or trim a wall made with the wall tool. I can't find a way to do it. Basically I want to square off a corner that's angled and add an unframed opening in the wall. Any ideas for how to do this easily? Quote Link to comment
Gerrit
If the angled corner is a leftover from an L-joint with another wall, you can use the Heal Wall tool. Adding openings can be done by inserting a symbol or a Wall opening (tool). Quote Link to comment
farwest1
I don't have the Heal Wall tool in my VW. I only have the Wall Join tool. Also, I don't see a Wall opening tool. Should I insert a window with no attributes? Quote Link to comment
Gerrit
Hmm, the tool should be there (look for an icon with two horizontal walls and a downward arrow). Window no attributes is the way to go IMHO. Quote Link to comment
dcont
if its not there then add it by editing the current workspace. Tools->Workspace->Workspace Editor. it is called the remove wall breaks tool(i think it used to be called the heal wall tool). It looks like this: Edited August 31, 2007 by dcont Quote Link to comment
Guest
Farwest - are you using Fundamentals or Architect? What version of VW are you using? Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
You can also trim a wall by drawing a line across it and using the Trim tool (Modify>Trim, or "apple + T" on the Mac). Draw the line (at any angle), activate the Trim tool, and click on the wall. Alternatively, many walls can be trimmed at once, even by a polyline or polygon, by selecting all of the walls, activating the Trim tool, and clicking on the polyline or polygon. Not exactly an answer to the question, but maybe helpful to know... Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
You can also use the Split tool in Split by Line mode. Quote Link to comment
farwest1
Beautiful! Thanks so much for all your help. I can now do what I asked in my initial question and more (the trim and split tools were added bonuses for me....) Quote Link to comment
