Import DWG: Proxies & 3d Polys

Question

i am having some trouble with a DWG file of plans of a house. when i import the file, to 1/4" scale, it appears fine but all doors, windows, and walls have been converted to proxy symbols and show up as blank rectangles. it renders the plan vitually useless. i have tried editting some of the symbols but they are 3D polygons. you cannot snap to thosein 2D plan. i have tried replacing some of the symbols with door objects, for example, but they end up at a insertion point that is the corner of the house. i have tried importing it with different settings, but its all the same. can someone give me some advice or tips to try? the files i am importing are .DWG and i presume they were created in autocad. any help would be appreciated.

The proxy objects will need to be exploded in AutoCAD in order for you to import those in and display as anything other than blocks.

problem solved. the source autocad files were drawn using acad's stumbly BIM tools, he exported again without that and the new DWG's worked fine. thanks katie for your help.
