Working Plane Palette

boxjoint

Question

The manual states: "To access a saved working plane position, double-click its name in the Working Planes palette." However, it fails to mention that you THEN need to click the 'Look at working plane' icon to complete the switch.

Further, the palette gives no feedback to indicate that you have actually made a new selection. SINGLE clicking any name highligts that name and allows you to delete or rename the plane, but if you then click the 'Look at working plane' icon, nothing happens. When you DOUBLE click the name, nothing changes. For new or infrequent users of this palette, this is non-intuitive.

In fact, having to double click and THEN click an additonal icon seems redundant. You should either single click to activate the name for modification AND be able to access it via the icon, OR double clicking should change the plane immediately.

Additionally, it would be useful to actually KNOW which plane is in use. Perhaps a check mark or bold text could indicate that.

Working planes are very powerful, but very unfriendly to use.

Unfriendly and way under utilized. Whatz with that crappy little GUI, anyway ?

Why not elevate Working Planes to the high-status they so rightly deserve ?

Seems to me... early on in Minicad4 a Programmer stuck Working Planes into the code ...

as an after thought... to ease the way into 3d programming { finally, added to VSS Functions in v12 ! }.

All right already ... we get the message ... now expand the sucker...

and then add a Working Planes "Actions" menu so that we can Undo them selectively & sequentially, too.
