Opening file in read only, not preferable

Recommended Posts

We've been having this problem for a while with Vector Works 8.01 for a little while and nothing we have done can resolve this problem.

The problem is when we open a file with Vector Works it says Can only open file in Read Only do you wish to continue? Yes Or No? We select yes and the try to overwrite the original file it does not allow it either.

This problem is happening selectively on Windows 98 Second Addition computers with Norton Antivirus Corperate Addition installed. We've reinstalled Vector Works, Excluded vector works drawings from virus scans, and even removed Norton on one instance, that did not work.

Can someone help us with this issue???????? PLEASE

The problem here with Mtcronin was that someone modified his network to only save Read Only files and did not inform him of the switch. If you do encounter this you can right click on the file and select properties, in the properties dialog box you can uncheck the Read Only box and modify the file.

Ok the problem is back, it was not the network after all. I've modified the permissions to meet the needs of this department and now the problem is happening again.

It seems to be very selective on when it happens and where it happens. It is normally going on with three computers all located in the same area. I've found more error messages which are io-36 errors.

Please inform how this can be corrected?
