Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted July 8, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 8, 2007 Hi I have updated my plant database using excel successfully. Is there a similar way to populate my notes database? I want to add all my standard specification information (currently in a word document) but rather than have to cut and paste into the dialogue boxes, is there a file I can access via excel to make this a bit quicker? If so, where can I find it? And presumably I need to back this file/files up before upgrading to 12.5.2 or I will lose any changes I have made? Many thanks! Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
the note database can be anywhere... when you use the general note or the callout tool you can specify what not database you are using. Usually there is a link to it on the ddialog box, and a button for you to choose a new one. I suggest that you see what notes database you are connected to. Then hide VectorWorks and go back to the desktop and find the file, you might need to write down the location. Copy this file to a better position, say in your current job folder. Then go back to VectorWorks and connect to your new database. I would NOT use excel to edit this file. Use the dialog boxes and copy and paste. I use 2 monitors on my computer, it speeds up stuff like this. Quote Link to comment
