mtcronin
Hello everyone. We are having a small problem with a few of our users on the network. Here is the problem in a nut shell. When users try to open any file made with Vector Works on built 8.05 they get the message that the document is currently open by another user and can only opened in read only format. Now I've tried to copy the document to a temporary drive on a few computers and open it from there and it still gives the same response as mentions above. Changes made to the computers latley have been we installed Norton AntiVirus Corperate edition 7.01. Has any one seen this problem before and how did you fix it. Please drop me an e-mail at mcronin@casedesign.com Thank you for your help. Regards, Michael Quote Link to comment
Guest
When Nortan anti virus is used on a machine or network certain situations will occur. When the anti virus looks at Minicad or Vectorworks it will allert users to errors that are not there, among other situations. When you are opening a file that is on a network first copy the file to the machines hard drive and open the file from that machine not over the network. Please consider removing Norton from your network to optimize the capabilities of Vectorworks. Quote Link to comment
mtcronin
Removing Norton is not an options. To secure out clients and desktop computers we must have norton installed. Mcaffee does not do what is needed for our network. Isn't there some kind of work around for this problem other than coping the file to the desktop? Thank you for your help in advance. ------------------ The only stupid question is the one that you do not ask. Quote Link to comment

Seeing as Norton and McAffee are the leading Virus defence programs out there, Vector works and all other software for that matter should be designed to work with the program!!! ------------------ The only stupid question is the one that you do not ask.
