Zoom & Pan operation

Question

Can we please have the ability to zoom & pan with the mouse wheel in one operation? I think it works something like: uses the centre of the view window and uses the location of the cursor relative to the centre of the view to determine the pan distance and direction. It might sound weird to those who've never experienced it before, but once you get used to it, it's so much more powerful for drawing navigation than simply being limited to zooming around the cursor location.

Thanks!

Are you referring to moving the cursor to a particular point on the screen and having the zoom "centre in on" that point?

If so mine does that already. I think there's a preference somewhere.

(maybe it's just a Mac thing?)

No, that is what I don't want it to do - rather to have the zoom "centre in on" a point opposite to the cursor location, using the centre of the view as a "mirror point". As I said, it's difficult to imagine and seems odd when first using it.
