Colman
As architects we are required to upload .dwf files for the purposes of sharing with design team members and contractors. Is their a Mac Utility to create .dwf from .dwg (similar to WHIP for the PC)? Are their plans to build this functionality into VectorWorks? Quote Link to comment
Guest
FYI - The VectorWorks file format has been approved and registered as an international standard MIME interchange format: application/vnd.vectorworks What this means for those unfamiliar with MIME is that VectorWorks files can be transferred across file systems, web pages, and through e-mail and still retain a signature which unambiguously identifies what they are. For example, it will allow VectorWorks files on a web site to be clicked and launch directly into VectorWorks on the client machine - or even potentially open directly in the browser through a plug-in file viewer like PDF files do today. As the internet has more impact on the development of file systems and conventions which will make data interchange easier, we'll be in a position to fit in. Aside from obvious market leaders like Be, Inc., more esoteric companies like Microsoft and Apple are integrating MIME into their file systems as the standard method of identifying file content so it can be transferred across heterogeneous file systems and processed appropriately. Of course, MIME registration by itself is only a small step, but it's a step in the right direction. Quote Link to comment
