Lucida Grande annoying text

I have set my default VW text to arial, which should make all text I create arial!!! This is not the case. For some reason no matter what I do to change the default text, it also defaults back to apple's over all default Lucida grande!! Please tell me there is a way around this. I currently have to manually change each one after creating. Also every time I alter a text box it goes back to lucida grande. Please help!

You have made sure nothing is selected when you change the font?

In the mean time, to stop you going mad, go to

-Tools>Custom Selection

-select Select Only and Criteria>Type is Text.

-Choose Create Script if you want to be doing it again.

Then you can change all the text in one go at the end.

Yes I have changed the default text with nothing selected.
