7Parella
Is there an easy way to import ClarisCad files into VectorWorks 8.0.1 directly.. I mean, without having to save the claris cad to PICT before? Thanks 7Parella Quote Link to comment
Guest
I am sorry to say no there isn't. Even the old method of using the Claris Cad to MiniCAD translator is nolonger valid with the Vectorworks product. The only other way would be to use a verions of MiniCAD to with the CC2MC software and then transfer the old file to Vectorworks ------------------ Shawn Waithe Diehl Graphsoft inc. creddy
Have you done this? I need to translate a whole pile of Claris Cad documents and I would love to find a simple, reliable solution that works. Thanks [This message has been edited by creddy (edited 03-09-2000).] Quote Link to comment
GRC
Translating Claris Cad to VW8.5.1 can be done directly if you have the original Claris Cad Translator. Simply run it and select DXF file save format. Then import the file into VW. Quote Link to comment
creddy
Found it! This company has a product they sell for $99 that translates ClarisCAD files to DXF format in one step. Look here: http://www.kandusoftware.com/products/macintosh/ccport.html ------------------ Quote Link to comment
7Parella
thanks for the tips.. I am not sure if the 90$ translator worths its price.. I mean: you can do it by the save as .pict in the claris cad and import it into VectorWorks. The pict file saved by clariscad saves individual objects, patterns, tex etc.. (with some limitations as line thickness). But what I was looking for is a direct import from VW.. I have around 2000 ClarisCad files and I dont want to translate all of them into another kind...before import them into VW ... imagine the work of the whole process.... open all the individual files... save them as pict dxf or whatever and then import them into VW. GRC
The ClarisCad DXF translator mentioned above lets you select a number of files for translation. I have done perhaps 5 at at time. I haven't found any other way to get decent accuracy in translation. Quote Link to comment
