vhector 0 Posted May 16, 2007 When i put a symbol, for instance a door in a wall, the only way I know to move it in the wall is to drag. Is there a way to do that muneric. Like i want the door 600mm from the T-wall (without helplines ). Quote Share this post Link to post
RGyori 46 Posted May 16, 2007 The most accurate way is: After the inserted plug-in object is selected go to the Object Info Palette and select POSITION. You can enter precise values in the resulting menu. It can get tricky when the wall intersects other walls since the dimension off-set is measured from wall center lines. Hope this helps, Bob Quote Share this post Link to post
Gytis 9 Posted May 16, 2007 After the inserted plug-in object is selected go to the Object Info Palette and select POSITION. You can enter precise values in the resulting menu. I True that...but.... t can get tricky when the wall intersects other walls since the dimension off-set is measured from wall center lines. Not exactly true that. When you hit the Position button, the ensuing Position Symbol in Wall dialog includes a highly schematized representation of the wall and symbol insertion, where you can choose centerline, outside, or inside of wall as reference! Still tricky sometimes, but easier than cl only. HTH. Quote Share this post Link to post
atari2600 1 Posted May 16, 2007 I usually start to drag the object in the direction I want to move it, hit the TAB key three times to highlight the length "L:" box, and type in the distance I want to drag it, and hit tab again. That will move it your specified distance. Quote Share this post Link to post
cbaarch 0 Posted May 16, 2007 you can also insert a loci (on the nonplot class) and snap the window the the loci Quote Share this post Link to post

Guest Posted May 17, 2007 Choose the control option in the OIP, then use the floating datum in conjunction with the Data Display bar to accurately snap to the offset from corner you are looking for when inserting the door/window. Quote Share this post Link to post
Jonathan Pickup 285 Posted May 22, 2007 i have just uploaded a podcast that helps to explain this... http://web.mac.com/jpickup1/iWeb/Site/podcasts/podcasts.html Quote Share this post Link to post
JHEarcht 0 Posted May 22, 2007 I just learned from the Podcast that the trick to dragging the door or window is to turn off the WALL INSERTION MODE in the Mode Bar. I had never thought of that as the reason for the object popping out of the wall while dragging. Now I know. Thanks arconcad! Quote Share this post Link to post
