Is there a way you could convert lines to a hatch instead of creating it in the edit hatch function?

yes,

there is a function called 'zet om naar lijnarcering' in dutch, and i think its 'convert to hatch' in english. here it is under the Arch menu. You need to draw the smallest possible pattern for the hatch that needs to be copied. then select it and use the command

I'm working on VectorWorks 11. Is that function only on VectorWorks 12 or will 11 have it as well.

Must be local (Dutch) version customisation because it doesn't exist in the English language versions. Be nice if it was.

I would really like to know what tools etc. are in the english version. because it seems that a whole lot of things are not in that version and maybe there are things that are deleted for our version etc. where can you find this info?

If 'zet om naar lijnarcering' really creates a hatch definition (as opposed to just making an array of the drawn sample), then it's an amazing achievement, and the wonder is that we haven't heard of it before. Everyone would want to buy it. It doesn't make sense to give it away as part of one local version and to keep it a secret from everyone else.

There was a hatch generator out there a few years ago, I think I remember something about the hassles of dealing with not so nice people drove him to pull it off the market.

Everything in the english version will be in the localized versions. Some localized versions have extra tools exclusive to the area or by distribution of the local distributor.
